Romanian is a Romance language spoken by about 24 million people in Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. Romanian retains a number of features of Latin, such as noun cases, which other Romance languages dispensed with a long time ago. Romanian contains many words taken from the surrounding Slavic languages, and also from French, Old Church Slavonic, German, Greek and Turkish.
Romanian first appeared in writing during the 16th century mainly in religious texts and other documents. The earliest known text in Romanian dates from 1521 and is a letter from Neacşu of Câmpulung to the mayor of Braşov. Neacşu wrote in a version of the old Cyrillic alphabet similar to the one for Old Church Slavonic, and which was used in Walachia and Moldova until 1859.
From the late 16th century a version of the Latin alphabet using Hungarian spelling conventions was used to write Romanian in Translyvania. Then in the late 18th century a spelling system based on Italian was adopted.

Nos cours sont faits pour ceux qui veulent pouvoir comprendre et dialoguer rapidement dans une langue. Il n'est pas nécessaire d'apprendre la grammaire ou l'orthographe pour s'exprimer, les enfants en sont la preuve évidente. Apprendre une langue dans un livre, à moins d'être un expert en phonétique, est pratiquement impossible. Il faut entendre la langue, se familiariser avec les sons. C'est pour cela que notre méthode d'apprentissage ne repose que sur le son et la compréhension par l'image. L’écrit ne sert que de repère pour les sons et les images. Dans un premier temps n'essayez pas de lire les textes mais écoutez les sons. J’écoute , je vois , j’apprends.

Perché un corso di rumeno per italiani?
Avendo la necessità necessità di apprendere la lingua rumena, mi sono accorto della scarsità di risorse on line gratuite utili allo studio di questo idioma. Ho constatato in particolar modo che è molto difficile trovare materiale per madrelingua italiani essendo poco pratico utilizzare strumenti concepiti per aiutare persone che partono da lingue molto più distanti dal rumeno rispetto alla nostra (mi riferisco soprattutto agli anglofoni).
Ho inziato ad imparare il rumeno prima per gioco quando scherzando con i miei amici Erasmus continuavo a ripetere che ero "obosit" (=stanco), poi per vicende personali ho iniziato a prendere seriamente in considerazione di apprendere questo affascinante idioma. I cinque mesi trascorsi a Bucarest con la mia ragazza mi hanno permesso di migliorare notevolmente e senza particolari sforzi il livello di comprensione orale ma sento di dover fare ancora strada per perfezionare il mio rumeno parlato e soprattutto arrivare ad un livello che mi consenta di utilizzarlo come principale lingua di lavoro.
Questo sito nasce dal desiderio di condividere con altre persone un percorso che è tutt'ora un work in progress, esattamente come le pagine di questo sito che spero di arricchire con costanza e regolarità.
Il rumeno è davvero così facile per gli italiani?
Vorrei sfatare un luogo comune che mi è capitato spesso di sentir ripetere: il rumeno non è così semplice per noi italiani.
Di sicuro il vocabolario rumeno ed italiano (oltre che napoletano) presentano molti punti di contatto, condividendo la comune appartenenza alla famiglia delle lingue neolatine ma secoli di strade e percorsi differenti hanno in seguito allontanato i due idiomi: il rumeno, in particolare, è stato fortemente influenzato dal turco e dalle lingue slave che ne hanno modificato fonetica, vocabolario e grammatica.
Magari alcuni non saranno d’accordo con me ma credo che il rumeno sia semplice ed abbordabile per noi italiani sino a quando si resta ad un livello piuttosto superficiale: tutti sono in grado di spiccicare due paroline e mettere insieme due semplici frasi. Quando, tuttavia, si arriva ad una fase più avanzata e si tenta di parlare rumeno in modo corretto, fluente e in contesti lavorativi le cose diventano molto più difficili. Trovo la grammatica rumena fastidiosamente irregolare (le eccezioni sono sovente la regola), la pronuncia abbastanza ostica (alcuni suoni non hanno corrispondenza con quelli italiani e all'inizio mi sembravano un po' innaturali) senza dimenticare che raggiungere un livello di ortografia accettabile non è davvero cosa da poco.
In estrema sintesi credo che il rumeno presenti un grado di difficoltà medio, essendo da un lato molto più difficile di altre lingue neolatine quali francese e spagnolo, dall’altro molto più semplice del tedesco e sicuramente di tutte le lingue parlate nei paesi confinanti con la Romania (bulgaro, ungherese, ucraino e via dicendo).

For instance, if you are need to learn Romanian for business purposes or social purposes, but don't have much time, then it will be helpful to learn words and phrases that you are likely to need. Aiming for a high level of language ability is very time-consuming.
Whatever your reason for learning Romanian, you have to start somewhere, and there are many basic words that you will always have to learn regardless of your eventual aim. Many of these basic words can be found on this site and in our Romanian language software .
